WordPress 101 - How To Add a Link

It is another wonderful Spring day!  You have spent hours, perhaps days, working on the perfect words and layout for a new page or post.  Now you would like to add a link to help your visitors navigate to another page.  Below are a few easy steps to help you add that link.

Step 1: As always, log into WordPress!  Go to the section you will be adding the link.

Step 2: Open a new tab in your web browser and go to the web address that you want the link to direct to.  Right-click and select ‘copy’

Step 3: Go back to the WordPress section that you are adding the content want to add.  Highlight the words that you would like to use as the link.  After Highlighting, select the small icon that looks like a chain.

Step 4: A box will show up under the highlighted words.  You will paste the link that was copied from the other tab.  You can do this by typing Ctrl and V at the same time, right-clicking and selecting ‘paste’.  Once the URL is added, you can then select the ‘Apply’ button that will activate that link.

Now that the link is added, you will be able to see that the text you selected will display the URL when you select it.

Step 5: Once you have added all your links and made all of the other updates that you would like, it is then time to save your work.  On the right side of the screen in the ‘Publish’ box, select ‘Save Draft’.  To preview your work and make sure that the link functions correctly, select ‘Preview’ in that same box.  A new tab will open with a preview page of the content that you are working on to test and review.

Step 6:  If you are absolutely complete and ready to put your work on the website, click the ‘Publish’ button back on your WordPress screen.

That’s it, easy peas-y! Hopefully these 6 easy sets will help you add a link to create more visitor interaction with your website. If you want to learn more about handy WordPress tips or website information in general, don’t forget to visit our Blog!
